and young people ,

Temporary Care/Permanent care
Temporary Care is arranged for a child if the idea is just to get them away from their home
environment for a while.
A number of procedures and assessments have to be completed before the care of a child
can become temporary as there may be a number of available options. These can include
staying with immediate family, temporary foster parents or being placed In a residential
home or school. Any temporary Care gotten for the child must have regular contact with
social services and comply with a number of rules and regulations for the best interest and
safety of the child.
Permanent Care is arranged for a child if they are exposed to risk or their life is in danger
and their parents are no longer deemed fit to care, support and give the child a proper
upbringing, a lot of assessments will be done before the care of a child or young person
becomes permanent.
For example a child who has been in a foster home for a considerable amount of time whose
parents are deemed to be incapable of caring for a minor will be kept in permanent care
under the care order .
Foster care
Foster care is often a short time solution, but can become a long time solution as
circumstances change.
Foster Care is a type of care that provides a safe home for children and young people who
need to be taken care of by individuals who aren't from their birth family because of certain
circumstances.
In most cases, foster children stay with their foster carers for full time or a long period of time
or until their family or parents recover from an Illness or are already capable of caring for
them again. Foster carers are checked by local authority to ensure that they are suitable and
competent to provide care in their own homes. They also need to be very adaptable because
they maybe caring for a month old today and a ten year old a week later.
Foster parents are people who officially take a child into their family for a period of time,
without becoming the child's legal parents. The child is referred to as their foster child. The
care offered may be emergency care, where immediate help is required. They work closely
with social services to provide secure, reliable care.

Respite care
Respite care is a planned or emergency temporary care given to children or adults mostly
with special needs .
Respite is decided in advance and basically it's a short term arrangement. Respite care is
provided by an individual's local authority.
Respite care is provided for parents who need a break from taking care of their children with
special needs , Young adults with special needs who need change of environment or
children or young people who may be having difficulty in dealing with their carer. A respite
care also consists of young adults or younger children with special needs spending time in a
setting that meets up to their specific needs .
This enables whoever is taking care of the child temporary relief , respite can take place in
the family’s own house ,day care centres or a residential or health setting that allows an
overnight stay .
Residential care
Residents care is a long term care that is given to either adults or young children in a setting
apart from their own home , there are various residential homes but depending on the needs
and care of the individual is the type of residential home they will be put into .
Children and young people may be taken into residential care for different reasons. Perhaps
as respite for a family or maybe temporary emergency situation eg abusive family, parents
illness etc .
Residential care is also put in place if a young person has come into conflict against the law
and is either remanded or detained in a young offenders institutional unit.
Residential child care can be short term or long term this depends on the situation.
Residential childcare services are strongly supported by general government which means
the government plays a huge role in keeping childcare open for many children and looked
after children for shelter..
Adoption
This is a formal legal process whereby the child or young person becomes a permanent
member of a family other than their natural birth family.
Adoption can follow the death of a child's natural birth parents although some parents give
up all responsibility for a child and offer that child or young person for adoption.
If a person wants to adopt a child there's a process that has to be taken on board before
they become a parent. A child has to be eligible for adoption and must be under the age of
18. An adoption order separates the child from their natural birth family and gives rights and
responsibilities to the new adoptive family who want to care for the child. Adoption and
fostering is a voluntary service that works to promote the best interests of children who have
been separated from their parents. Adoption is only provided for children who meet the
needs of a particular group therefore it's a specialist service that's not available for all
children or young people.
It is important that any sort of care and provision organised for a looked after child's interest
are organised and established in a mutually beneficial way for importantly the child’s needs if
they are of the age to think independently and if they are not of the age to think
independently of their needs they are laws set in place to safeguard looked after children.
And it is important to note that when it comes to looked after children or younger people
