IT System Recommendation
Introduction
I chose an American company that was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and
Ronald Wayne. Apple's information technology (IT) systems are increasingly changing the world
by changing the methods of doing business across a diverse platform. IT systems serve as the
basis for assuring leadership, management, and administration of enterprise processes, whereby
positively shaping organizational performance. Both people and organizations have portrayed
technology as the basis of the nation's marketplace. An examination of Apple and its marketing
processes will play a vital part in outlining the significance of IT systems in an organization. I
will discuss the strength of Apple's marketing plans, technology recommendations, security
threats, and impacts that come from political, cultural, and diversity. Company Background
and Information Systems
Apple is the American company that was started in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak,
and Ronald Wayne in a garage in California. It has developed into a worldwide company
producing products computer software, consumer electronics, and commercial servers. Apple is
famously known for its production of hardware, such as the Mac Computers, the iPod, iPhones,
watches, and iPads. The business was called Apple computer in 1976 and then changed to Apple
Inc. in 1977, where they shifted focus to the consumer electronic market. Cupertino, California,
is the location of Apple's headquarters. The company has divisions in the Americas, China,
, Japan, Europe, and the Asia Pacific. Apple’s main focus now involves personal electronics,
computers and computer software.
Apple's mission is to provide users' the ultimate experience with its equipment and
software services. Apple's top selling products and services are the IPhones, IPads, iPods,
MacBook, Apple TVs, and Apple Watches. Apple also provides software that includes;
safari web browser, OS, IOS, and iTunes.
Apple uses TestFlight to test its products within the organization. It also has an Apple
Enterprise Program that allows designers to develop apple products within the organization's
combined environment. The company sells its goods direct via its local and online stores. Apple
uses third-party companies such as Best Buy and cellular networks such as Verizon to sell to
wholesalers and retailers. (Heracleous, 2013).
Information systems are crucial in handling Apple's business systems. They help promote
communication by connecting product developers, customers, and the company's selling force,
third-party sales agents, wholesalers, and retailers. Information systems are also vital in
managing the company's business by promoting productivity and cost-effectiveness. The
company's processes, involving sales and distribution, become more effective in information
systems (Heracleous, 2013).
The current information systems that support Apple are the Transaction Processing
System (TPS) and the Knowledge Management System (KMS). The KMS that Apple utilizes,
helps the developers design products while sharing pertinent data that enhances knowledge and
expertise, strengthening the end-users' experience. The TPS is a platform that Apple uses to
perform different organizational transactions precisely. The TPS uses the mediums to sell
company products on online stores such as iTunes and the Power Mac Store. (Cox, 2014).
