Casus Onno
Je werkt op de kinderafdeling in een algemeen ziekenhuis. Het is oktober. Om 20 uur belt de SEH-
verpleegkundige naar de afdeling en vraagt of jij een peuter, Onno, van anderhalf jaar en zijn
moeder, mevrouw Yvonne Stam, op wil komen halen. De peuter dient opgenomen te worden in
verband met slecht eten en drinken door een flinke snotneus en heftige hoestbuien. De oorzaak is
nog onbekend, mogelijk een RS-virus.
Op de afdeling wordt Onno opgenomen in een isolatiebox en aan een saturatiemonitor gelegd.

In de isolatiebox ligt Onno alleen en zijn moeder roomt in. Onno heeft op dat moment geen koorts
(temperatuur 37,4°C), is kortademig en maakt een zieke indruk. Moeder is angstig en gespannen en
vindt het moeilijk dat Onno zo ziek is. Moeder belt haar partner, Bettie Stam, en vraagt of zij ook naar
het ziekenhuis komt.
Om 22.00 gaat het alarmsignaal van de saturatiemeter af. Je gaat bij Onno naar binnen en het blijkt
dat hij de saturatiemeter heeft afgeschopt. Beide moeders geven aan dat het lijkt alsof Onno
benauwder wordt. Je kijkt naar Onno en krijgt een niet pluis gevoel. Welke observaties ga je doen?
