1. Production system
The production system is the collection of people, equipment, and
procedures, organized to accomplish the manufacturing operations
of a company.

1.1 Production system facilities
The facilities in the production system are the factory, production
machines and tooling, material handling equipment, inspection
equipment, and the computer systems that control the
manufacturing operations.
A manufacturing company attempts to organize its facilities in the
most efficient way to serve the particular mission of that plant.
The annual product quantities produced in a given factory can be
classified into three ranges:
