Environmental Analysis

FedEx has some operations in 220 countries; in every country FedEx is in, they have an
opportunity for economic gain or loss. While being in almost every country, each country has a
different type of market. Some markets are more accessible than others. Due to each market
changing constantly, the cost to ship is always changing. Other economic factors would be the
exchange rates with the different currencies around the world. Dealing with the shipping around
the and with foreign currencies could cause issues with customs when the prices of items are
different in other countries.

With FedEx being in the shipping industry, they are involved directly with the trade
industry. FedEx has a direct hand with imports and exports around the world. FedEx has several
ways of transporting goods around the world. Most commonly, Air and ground. However, FedEx
also uses freight trains and will transport them via boats in the ocean. FedEx has several different
options when shipping internationally for personal and business customers.

changing, countries' laws are always changing, and they could affect FedEx when shipping
products from one place to another.

General Strategy

With FedEx being a large company, they have some involvement in various regions of
the world. One region, FedEx, does business in Latin America and is Brazil's largest country in
that region. Brazil is Latin America's largest country, with a population of 212 million people.
(World Atlas) Brazil is also the largest country when it comes to land. With a large population
and landmass, FedEx has much ground to cover when delivering items in Brazil.

largest economy in South America and the 8th largest globally. Brazil produced $3.22 trillion in
goods and services in 2019. (Amadeo 2021)

In 2018 Jair Bolsonaro became president of the country when the people wanted to
change the style of government. Bolsonaro opened up more trade in the world by lowering
tariffs. The change happened due to past leadership having laws that resulted in Brazil's
spending, which hurt the economy and caused their inflation to rise. (Amadeo 2021) They also
have a long history of corruption in their government positions, which would potentially harm
FedEx.
