Hello Professor Donnally and Classmates,

Our discussion this week is about America and Terrorism in the 21st Century.

As cited in Openstax, As the United States entered the 21st century, old disputes

continued to rear their heads. Some revolved around what it meant to be an

American and the rights to full citizenship. (Openstax, 2017) The 21st century has

brought several terrorist attacks on America. Here is a few that has happened

since the 1980’s till today.

In 2001: 9/11 Bombing of the World Trade

Center In 2013: Boston Marathon Bombings

The World Trade Center Bombing was done by six suspects. Ramzi Yousef

directed the organization and execution of the bombing. He said he did it to avenge

the sufferings Palestinian people had endured at the hands of US-aided Israel.

(CNN.2019) They drove a rider rental van loaded with 1200 lbs. of explosive in

the underground parking garage of the world trade center. They ended up killing 6

people and injuring over 1000 people, including 88 firefighters, 35 police officers,

the WTC complex. (National September 11 Memorial & Museum

which a massive homemade bomb concealed in a rental truck with approximately

5,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate fertilizer exploded, heavily damaging the

Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. A total of 168 people was killed, including 19

children, and more than 500 were injured. Those responsible for the Oklahoma

City Bombing were home-grown terrorists, Timothy McVeigh and Terry

Nichols.

Timothy McVeigh blamed the FBI for burning down the Branch Davidian cult (led

by David Koresh) killing David and his followers. He did it all for retaliation

against the government.

The 9/11 bombing of the World Trade Center occurred September 11,2001.

The first attacked happen at 8:46am by flight 11, which hit the 1 World Trade

Center.

The Second attacked at 9:03 am by flight 175, which slams into 2 World Trade

The last attack on the White House or Capital by Flight 93 was brought down prior

to its destination by the passengers of the plane. It crashes down in Shanksville, Pa.

The hijackers were Islamic terrorists from Saudi Arabia and several other Arab
