The keyboard is an input device that allows the user to enter letters, numbers and symbols
into his computer. It also allows the users, sometimes to control his directions when using
certain apps only or playing a game. As we all know, it is one of the most input devices used
by the users. The keyboards are connected to the computer by a USB or Bluetooth.
However, the laptop keyboard is attached to it and it is more compact than a desktop
keyboard to make the laptop smaller and lighter. Also tablets and smartphones use the
keyboard, but it is an on-screen keyboard which is also used to input messages and select
commands. When using the keyboard, every character we type, or we press on the
keyboard in order to be typed, is called a keystroke, using the keyboard, the user can also
do certain special stuff just like minimizing the desktop window by clicking the window
button with the arrow that signals to the down (Windows key + Down Arrow = Minimize the
desktop window) and a lot more stuffs like maximizing as well…
Another very important input device is the mouse, the mouse can be two types, either the
wired or the wireless mouse, they both have the same function and give the user the same
services. The mouse is used to the cursor and coordinates, it allows the user to do the
following:
Move the mouse cursor
Select
Scroll
Open or execute a program
Drag-and-drop
Hover
Perform other functions with the use of additional buttons
A laptop uses a touchpad as the mouse. A smartphone and tablet use a
touchscreen as primary input device and the user’s finger is used as the mouse.
,Another very important input device is the monitor which can also be considered as an
output device. The monitor of the computer can be used as a place to insert something to
the computer for example putting a HDMI wire into the monitor to watch something from
the laptop because The standard analog input for a PC monitor is the Video Graphics Array
connection. The main AV input interfaces are composite video, S-Video, component video,
D1 – 5, and HDMI.
Gamers, however, use the monitor as an input device as well especially when it is used as a
device of a whole setup which include the mouse, keyboard and the monitor. It can be
considered as an input device especially when it is a touch screen which will then be
considered as an input/output device, when using the touch screen of the smartphone or
the tablet.
,Logical sequencing is making a certain process or managing something but as we all know it
is done through a sequence of actions which is called a set of algorithms. The user must
always stick to a sequence for his work to function and to achieve his goal otherwise, his
work will not work and function normally. For example, when a user manages to create a
game, he must work according to a certain sequence of actions that will help him create
thus game.
Dexterity is skill in performing tasks, especially with the hands. Relating this to computer
skills, it might be how quickly a user can type on the keyboard in order to input characters
into the computer or how quickly he can access stuffs using the monitor or the touchscreen
or maybe his skills in moving the mouse really quick when using the computer and it is all
related to our hands because we can do everything using them.
, A concept keyboard is basically a specialised keyboard with no pre-set keys. It usually relies
on a sensitive touch screen that displays keys on its screen in which each key can be
programmed in a wide range of different functions and features. This is used to allow the
user to input items in a much easier way without the need to use a mouse or a keyboard. An
example about that is when we go to a fast-food restaurant in which the assistant uses this
type of keyboard on their computer because it is much easier, rather than using the usual
system with a mouse and a keyboard which will make it even more complicated to him. It
can also be very helpful for the old people that would face a lot of problems while using the
keyboard and the mouse and the regular system.
The voice input is a new technology which allows the user to input things to the device by
his voice he can transform his spoken words into written ones for example. Examples about
voice input devices, apple uses Siri and Microsoft uses Cortana. Also, Amazon has Alexa for
example.
