PSYC-290N Week 4 Graded Discussion Topic 1 Week 4 We have learned about the large amount of physical and cognitive changes that occur during the first year of life. Adolescence is another time of profound physical and psychological change. Specifically, what are these changes, and what factors influence them? You may want to think back on your adolescence. How did you experience this change? How did your family and friends react to them? We will also discuss what the research tells us about the developmental changes of adolescence. During the adolescent time of growth, the physical and cognitive changes that occur during this time have much impact on a child that can lead to adulthood. they have changes in weight, height and sex characteristics. also, their hormones start showing and it might affect their emotions and stability at times depending on how severe. girls develop breasts and hips. males develop a deeper voice and other characteristics. their growth spirts occur rapidly and may seem at random times. they can grow in weight and height in the blink of an eye. During this time is where sexual maturation develops where physical and cognitive changes are linked together. they are activated by a rise in hormones. these times are very crucial for kids because it’s when major emotions come into places such as anxiety or depression. this can lead to physical and cognitive changes in kids. During my middle school years were the years of big change mentally for me. I remember every day would be a different mood or rollercoaster for the classes and if someone was in a bad mood then everyone would be in a bad mood. kids followed suit for the most part and most didn't stray from the norm. it was very cliquey and if you weren't in the cool groups then you were called lame. I thought this was the biggest deal in the world, but once high school started none of those cool groups stayed friends and became like everyone else. the challenges of being an adolescent can be very emotionally and mentally draining but the support of good friends and family did make the world of a difference on your outlook. height in the blink of an eye.
During this time is where sexual maturation develops where physical and cognitive
changes are linked together. they are activated by a rise in hormones. these times are
very crucial for kids because it’s when major emotions come into places such as anxiety
or depression. this can lead to physical and cognitive changes in kids.
