Bestedingen branche
Een supermarkt is een relatief grote zelfbedieningswinkel waar primaire levensmiddelen worden
verkocht. Hiertoe behoort een steeds groter aandeel vers en additioneel assortiment van non-food
artikelen. Supermarkten vormen een belangrijk aandeel in de totale detailhandel, de branche draait
jaarlijks ruim 56 miljard euro om en draagt voor 10% bij aan het bruto nationaal product.

Met een omzet van 44,6 miljard euro boekten de supermarkten een relatief beperkte groei van 1,7
procent. Albert Heijn blijft nummer 1 en zag zijn aandeel stijgen met 0,9 procent in vergelijking met
2020, waarvan 0,2 procent door de overname van 38 Deen-winkels.
