PSM 11 or PSPO2 assessment. These are provided based on real-life experiences. These are not
considered mandatory but are offered as they have been helpful to others.
● Read the Scrum Guide™iii 2020!
o There is no better advice one can give to prepare for the PSM 1i assessment than to
suggest reading this document. Its contents are at the heart of the exam. Many
questions that you may see are taken directly from words or sentences in the guide.
The guide might say something like “The Scrum Master has the responsibility of …” and
then ask the question “The Scrum Master has the responsibility of __________?” Read
the Scrum Guide™iii 2020 slowly and understand what they are saying. Quality of
reading is recommended over quantity of pages read per day.
o Additionally, the Scrum Guide™iii serves as the guide to Scrum. One of the
characteristics of Scrum and why it works and works well is with its simplicity.
o As you study and prepare for this exam, you should make it a habit of reading this guide
daily. You can read it in as little as one-half hour as it is only thirteen pages in length.
● The exam is an open-book assessment!
o Yes! You can have materials nearby printed or opened on your computer as you take
the exam. In fact, many students have printed and taped diagrams, pictures, or notes to
the wall in front of them by their desk to use as a quick reference.
o If you want, have an electronic copy of the Scrum Guide™iii open on your computer
instead of a printed one as you take the test so you can quickly search.
● Do not rely on internet searches.
o Do not rely on internet searches for two main reasons. First, you won’t have time. The
exam requires you to answer 80 questions in 60 minutes (one hour). There isn’t a lot of
extra time built into the exam. Yes, you might be able to do one or two quick searches
but that’s it. You must be prepared prior to taking the exam to rely only on the material
you know and understand and any that is printed or opened in front of you.
o Secondly, everything on the internet can be trusted! Correct? First, someone could be
posting something is incorrect. Another point is that there are other companies
advocating for Scrum beyond Scrum.org. They share many beliefs and values of Scrum,
