, INTRODUCCIÓNEl cambio social es un fenómeno que caracteriza a la sociedad contemporánea; el ritmo de cambio
nunca ha sido tan acelerado como el que se vive en la sociedad actual. A lo largo de este tema
estudiaremos los movimientos sociales más importantes, como el feminismo, pacifismo y el ecologismo;
a través de los cuales, en los últimos sesenta años, hombres y mujeres han emprendido cambios en la
búsqueda de una sociedad más justa, sostenible e igualitaria, promoviendo la defensa de los derechos
inherentes del ser humano. Las causas que motivan los movimientos sociales, así como sus formas de
desarrollo son muy diversas. Sin embargo, todos ellos parten de elementos comunes, como son: la
disconformidad con la situación actual y descontento que sufre la sociedad por las injusticias y problemas
de índole social; la necesidad de cambio; y el reconocimiento o ampliación de nuevos derechos. La
importancia del tema reside en que nos permite comprender la sociedad de la cual formamos parte a
través del fenómeno de cambio social y sus tendencias actuales.
