THE COURSE PLAN

Name of the Teacher Name of the Student Level of the
student
Jacoba Smit Alberto Mozo Minguez Intermediate

, Syllabus Type:
Multi-Syllabus

Course Aims:
By the end of the course, the student will be better able to…

Pronounce words clearly, listen properly, speak more fluently and be more confident
when applying for a new job in England

Course Rationale: (700 – 1000 words)

Here you need to include:

 why you have chosen this syllabus type
 why you have chosen the topic(s) covered
 why you have chosen this target language/skill
 the rationale behind the structure of the course, e.g. why is it in this order?
 how the course will meet the learner’s needs

I chose the multi-syllabus, because this student needs help with multiple skills and it will
also allow me to use any type of authentic materials available to source from the internet
or I can create it myself. These activities can be manipulated depending on the students’
progress as we go along. Once I see the student needs are met, I can focus on areas
where he is still struggling allowing the student to give his input as to what he would like
to do more of, and I will be better able to meet his needs.

Evaluating the questionnaire from the student, the topics are according to his needs and
likes as he is interested in current affairs, the environment, science and technology. Using
these topics will keep my student motivated and interested in the syllabus, therefore
getting better results. Topics including current affairs (Covid-19 in Spain) the environment
(global warming) jobs (interviews and CV assistance, including interview role-play) Science
(Science involving Covid - 19) Vocabulary (we will constantly increase his vocabulary
needs and understanding as the lessons progress)

Target skills are pronunciation, listening and speaking. This is in the needs analysis
questionnaire and the student is very specific on skills he needs to improve on so these
are what the teacher will be focusing on and will apply all the needs in the syllabus based
on students required skills.
The structure of the course will enable the teacher to see whether the student is engaging
with L2 in all areas needed while also being able to be flexible with the syllabus as the
student progresses.

Speaking and listening with small talk: By the end of the lesson, he will have developed his
listening and speaking skills by speaking to the teacher about where he might want to
travel from the video provided. He will be encouraged to do a lot of speaking to assist him
