BIBLE STUDY PROJECT: OBSERVATION TEMPLATE
Passage: Acts 9:36-43

CSB) and a functional translation (NIV, NLT, or NCV). Highlight the correct answer.
Please use the translation provided in your digital library or found at Biblegateway.com

o Yes
o No

B. Having read the passage in both formal and functional translation, list at least 2 similarities
and 3 differences between the way both translations cover this story. You may list as many
similarities and differences that you find as long as you meet the minimum amount.

1. Similarity – Both translations note that when Peter was brought to the room, the
widows were crying and showing him the coats and garments that Dorcas had made
when she was with them.

2. Similarity - Both translations indicated Tabitha died, Peter knelt, prayed and
he presented her alive.

3. Similarity – Both translations note Tabitha’s name is called Dorcas.

4. Difference – KJV translation did not use quotations with exact words. Specifically,
verse 40 KJV said, Tabitha, arise with no quotes and in the NIV it is written that he
said “Tabitha, get up” with the quotes.

5. Difference – How Peter told Tabitha to get up is different. In the KJV he said arise
and in the NIV he said to get up.

6. Difference - In verse 39, the KJV indicates they took Peter to the upper
chamber however the NIV indicated they took him in to a room, upstairs.
