RECEIVED FROM STAFF IN REGARDS TO THEIR HEALTH AND SAFETY RISKS IN THE WORKPLACE.
1. Terms of Reference
On 15 February 2018, Dr N Patlone, Chief Executive Officer, requested an investigation into
the impact of the increasing number of complaints received from the staff, about their
health and safety risks in the workplace. A recommendation to be submitted to the
Executive Management Committee by 30 April 2018.
2. Procedures
The Procedures followed in order to obtain the information contained in this report include:
2.1 A meeting was held with all the staff members in order to identify all concerns and
or complaints raised by the staff members.
2.2 All concerns and or complaints were listed from highest priority to the lowest (the
lowest concerns and or complaints are also important but the biggest concern and
or complaint took the highest priority).
2.3 A visit to all Department Heads was conducted to get a clear understanding of all the
concerns and or complaints raised by staff.
2.4 A survey was conducted to identify the impact of all concerns and or complaints in
regard to the workplace.
2.5 One on one interviews was done to establish the current morale, attendance and
productivity of all staff.
3. Findings
Based on the procedures listed above, the following was found:
3.1 Working hours increased with two hours with no additional staff allocation and no
sufficient increase in salary.
3.2 Due to the above, staff morale has declined from 95% to 75% as per the latest
company survey.
3.3 The Department Heads confirmed the latest increase of staff resignations by 10%
and decrease of staff by 29%.
3.4 Non-availability of a decent restroom and other amenities, such as a lunchroom.
