1. L awrence Kohlberg, an introduction:
L awrence Kohlberg’s six stages of moral development constitute
an adaption of a psychological theory originally conceived by the
psychologist Jean Piaget. According to Lawrence Kohlberg: Journal of
Philosophy (1973), the theory holds that moral reasoning, the basis of
ethical behaviour, has six identifiable developmental stages, each more
adequate at responding to moral dilemmas than its predecessor. The six
stages of moral development are grouped in three levels: pre-conventional
morality, conventional morality and post-conventional morality. Merriam-
webster.com (2011) explains that a behavioural problem is a symptomatic
expression of emotional or interpersonal maladjustment especially
found in children.
