Thermometer of choice
My thermometer of choice is the data logger. I have decided to use this thermometer type as although it is
not as accurate as other types such as alcohol, it displays an exact digital reading, meaning that any human
error that may occur when reading other thermometer types is ruled out. This therefore reduces the
chance of recording any anomalies that may a ect the results of my experiment, allowing for a more
accurate gradient and therefore rate of cooling to be calculated for both substances. In addi on to this, the
data logger o ers a real me visual representa on of the temperature as it drops.
I will not be using both the digital underarm and digital ear thermometers as they are designed for taking
body temperatures and therefore have a very limited range. I decided that the risk associated with the
mercury thermometer if broken outweighed the fact that it is more accurate than the alcohol thermometer
and data logger.
