Kinderen
Bij kinderen gaat het niet over eetstoornissen maar over voedingsstoornissen. Omdat ze van een
volwassenen afhankelijk zijn om te eten.
De DSM maakt hier een onderscheid in voor soorten:
- Pica herhalend innemen van giftige of oneetbare stoffen (aarde, stof, zand, klei, papier...)
- Ruminatie terug ophalen van voedsel uit de maag en terug herkauwen. Dit zorgt dat je in
je lichaam abnormale contracties krijgt om je voedsel terug naar boven te krijgen. Er is wel
voldoende eetlust.
- Vermijdende/ restrictieve voedselinnamestoornis (ARFID) bepaald voedsel met een
bepaalde geur, kleur, textuur zoals champignons. Dit kan ook bij volwassenen maar dit is dan
een eetstoornis.
Bij alle 3 wordt niet gesproken van anorexia of boulimia omdat je geen verstoord lichaamsbeeld hebt.
Het kan ook gewoon verstoord eetgedrag zijn.
Volwassenen
Het kan een symptoom zijn van psychische ziekten zoals geen eetlust bij depressieve
stemmingsstoornis, psychotische stoornis de waan dat het voedsel vergiftigd is, verslaving en/of
armoede. Belangrijk te omschrijven of het een symptoom of syndroom is.
