GASTROSTOMIAEs una comunicación creada entre la luz del estómago y la pared abdominal anterior con el
objetivo de obtener un acceso a la luz gástrica desde el exterior. La gastrostomía puede
realizarse para alimentación o para descompresión (vaciamiento) y drenaje gástrico.
La gastrostomía de alimentación está indicada en aquellos casos en los que la alimentación
oral resulta imposible o insuficiente ya sea de forma temporal o permanente, por patologías
benignas o malignas, y que requieran de soporte nutricional por más de 4 semanas.
Neoplasias obstructivas orofaríngeas, esofágicas o gástricas.
Enfermedades neurológicas (síndrome de Guillain Barré).
Traumatismo de cabeza y cuello.
Tumores de cabeza y cuello.
Anorexia nerviosa.
Fístulas esofágicas.
La gastrostomía puede realizarse por vía percutánea, laparoscópica o por técnica abierta
(método de Stamm, método de Witzel y método de Janeway). El método más utilizado es
la gastrostomía endoscópica percutánea.
