DNA:

DNA-nucleotiden bestaat uit:
- Een fosfaatgroep

- Stikstofbase
Deoxyribose heeft 5 C-atomen op een vaste manier genummerd:
- In het DNA-nucleotide vormt het eerste C- atoom (1’) een binding met de stikstofbase.
- Het vijfde C-atoom (5’) vormt een binding met de fosfaatgroep.
- Elke nucleotide in een streng is via zijn fosfaatgroep gekoppeld aan het derde C-atoom (3’) van
het deoxyribose van het nucleotide ernaast.
Stikstofbasen in DNA:
- Adenine (A)
- Cytosine (C)
- Guanine (G)
- Thymine (T)
Deze stikstofbasen van de ene streng binden via H-bruggen met die van de tegenoverliggende streng:
- A bindt altijd met T via twee H-bruggen.
- C bindt altijd met G via drie H-bruggen.
Complementair: de volgorde in de ene streng (de leidende streng) bepaalt die in de andere (de
volgende streng) en andersom.
