A CAUCASIAN MAN WITH HIP PAIN 1 A Caucasian Man with Hip Pain A Caucasian Man with Hip Pain Introduction Hip pain is a common condition caused by various factors. These factors do not necessarily conceal an underlying sickness. Some common causes of hip pain include muscle stiffness, injury, trauma, muscle strains or lying in an awkward position for a prolonged period of time (O’Sullivan, Schmitz and Fulk, 2019). There are various self-treatment procedures that can make hip pain disappear. These include taking hot showers to relax the muscles, resting, and taking some pain killers to relieve the pain. In the cases where the pain worsens or is prolonged, a patient should seek medical care. Hip pain can be a symptom of underlying conditions such as arthritis, pinched nerves, and cancer (O’Sullivan, Schmitz and Fulk, 2019). The location of the hip pain can immensely help in identifying its cause. A medical professional can help a patient in the assessment and diagnosis of hip pain. This case study is of a 40-year-old man, experiencing some hip pain for the last few years. The patient states that the pain has gradually grown from mild levels to almost extreme unbearable levels. He relies on the aid of crutches to help him move around. The patient points out that he was once involved in a car accident 5 years ago, where he suffered minor injuries including an injury on his hip. Shortly after, he started experiencing pain in his right hip. He has been taking various kinds of pain killers, whose effectiveness has gradually decreased. The patient claims that the hip pain has greatly affected his productivity, and this has led to a reduction in his income. The reduced flow of income has led to certain lifestyle changes, which indicates that the patient is very likely to be depressed. Prolonged hip pain is caused by Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) (Stanton, 2018). This condition causes a high level of nerve impulses to be sent to the affected hip, which leads to pain in various degrees. This paper aims at
