Ecologische voetafdruk :de oppervlakte aarde die nodig is om te
voorzien in de levensstijl van een land, dus de ruimte die we op
aarde innemen
➢ Per land vergelijkt men de voetafdruk met de biologische
capaciteit van de aarde
➢ Bv. de ecologische voetafdruk van London = 2 x de
oppervlakte van het Verenigd Koninkrijk
➢ Indien de voetafdruk > biologische capaciteit
ecologische tekort: Als de biocapaciteit van een land groter is dan de
ecologische voetafdruk, dan heeft het land een ecologisch overschot.
het land consumeert niet alle beschikbare hulpbronnen en heeft een positieve netto
impact op het milieu.

➢ De dag waarop we meer hebben verbruikt dan de aarde in 1 jaar kan
vernieuwen
