Malware - Malicious software Ransomeware - A type of malicious software designed to block access to a computer system until a sum of money is paid. Trojan - A program disguised as a harmless application that actually produces harmful results. Worm - Software program capable of reproducing itself that can spread from one computer to the next over a network. PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) - Software commonly installed during the process of installing desired software. While not inherently dangerous, it often does not add value for the user. Fileless malware - A type of malicious software that uses legitimate programs to infect a computer. It does not rely on files and leaves no footprint, making it challenging to detect and remove. Command and control - The puppet-master of a bot network that is able to execute actions on a number of compromised systems. Bot - A compromised system. Cryptomalware - Encodes users data into an unreadable format. Lgic bomb - A computer program or part of a program that lies dormant until it is triggered by a specific logical event. Spyware - A type of Malware that locates and saves data from users without them knowing about it. Keylogger - A malicious program that records keystrokes. RAT (Remote Access Trojan) - Malware that creates a backdoor for unauthorized remote access. Rootkit - A tool that obtains the highest level of privilege on a device sometimes used intentionally by a mobile device owner to override the protections installed by the service provider.
