📌 SUMMARY: Autism is a condition that was first coined in DSM-II in 1980.
The current diagnostic criteria in DSM-V includes social communication and
interaction impairments and repetitive, restrictive movements, which must
be persistent and present in early development. Autism is not always
diagnosed, partly due to its co-morbidities, which include anxiety and
depression. Interventions aim to help people with Autism to manage in daily
life as independently as possible.
