Introduction

There is no doubt that politics are affected by many aspects of society, as well as

varying classes of life that stem from differing worldviews. In today’s society, the standard has

become living, eating, and breathing politics. Although there are examples of good governance

as well as strong infrastructure throughout politics, there have also been some easily noticeable

evils that have led to politics being deemed as “the root to all evil” (Gillespie et. al., 1996). Over

the course of many decades, different political parties and leaders have been at odds with one

another, leading to each party having their own set of ideas regarding how a nation will be best

ruled. Contrary to this, politics in today’s society are rather bitter and intense, which can

sometimes lead to violence within nations. Due to high tensions both in nations and globally, the

stain of uncertainty has been placed upon domestic and foreign affairs.

This research paper dives deep into the different political standpoints that have been

influenced by Plato, Martin Luther, and Thomas Hobbes. The listed philosophers differ in their

morals and beliefs regarding how one’s life should be lived as well as how a nation should be

properly governed for the highest level of success. Additionally, Plato, Luther, and Hobbes each

affected the way of politics in today’s society despite them having all existed many years ago.

The ideas that were brought to the table by each of the individuals show us different worldviews

that help to shape the perspective of individuals in today’s society, especially in terms of how to
