COPD: Chronich Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (Chronische Obstructieve Long Ziekte).
Dit is een verzamelnaam voor onder andere chronische bronchitis en longemfyseem.
Dit houdt in dat de longen zijn beschadigd, waardoor ademhaling wordt bemoeilijkt en er
minder zuurstof in het bloed opgenomen kan worden.
Hierdoor hebben de mensen minder energie, normale dingen zoals traplopen, boodschappen
doen, aan- en uitkleden kunnen als lastig worden ervaren.
De vier GOLD stadia zijn:
GOLD 1 – Licht COPD
GOLD 2 – Matig-ernstig COPD
GOLD 3 – Ernstig COPD
GOLD 4 – Zeer ernstig COPD
