THOMAS EARP
UNIT 2 – TEAMS PERFORMANCE
When leading a task, it’s always helpful and easier when your team is co-operative
each other in the right way. I had around 11 individuals within my group which I had
to lead. This was a big group for myself. There were good and bad things with my
team’s performance.
In some areas my team’s strengths were extremely helpful for when I was leading
the tasking. A strength that some individuals within my group were good at was
communicating with myself and a few other people when trying to come up with a
plan. This was a strength because they were engaging in the task and helping me to
come up with a final plan that would be most effective. Another strength with my
team were a few people were determined and motivated to succeed in this task. This
made the team’s performance more effective as they wanted to get on, this allowed
me to give out roles. They used their good skills of team work which made the task in
some areas easier and more effective. This improved their performance as the
individuals that were determined got on with what I asked them to do. When coming
up with the plan, some individuals had good problem solving skills which they
provided for all of us, this helped the team’s performance as we came over problems
quickly and then came up with a plan quickly as they all communicated with each
other and put in ideas. Some individuals made the team’s performance better
because they added in the skills they were good at which helped everyone out in the
group to either come up with a plan or overcome a problem. They team members
had some strengths in the task they were participating in.
Not the whole group but some individuals did let the team’s performance down.
There were many areas that weren’t good about the team’s performance. One area
of the group’s performance was how loud they were. Most individuals did not listen to
me when I was giving out orders but they spoke to other team members in the group.
This increases the noise level within the classroom. This had a negative impact to
the team’s performance as not everyone could hear. Another weakness of the group
was they didn’t follow the rules or orders that I asked for. This made the task take
longer than normal as not everyone was contributing. Throughout the task
individuals were just standing around not helping but talking to their peers even
when they knew their role in the task. There were many small things which had a
negative impact on the task. Overall not everyone was bad, some members were
engaging with the task and getting involved but then some other were not.
If everyone within the group had got involved and followed the roles they were set, I
believe that the task would have gone a lot easier and more effective as we would
have more people contributing their skills in the task helping everyone out.
