VS = 1980 National Facility Management Association opgericht. 1982 werd de naam
veranderd in International Facility Management Association. Doelstellingen van de VS
waren:
• Kennis ontwikkelen en erkenning krijgen voor de invloed van facilities op het
menselijk gedrag en de productiviteit
• Filosofie en praktische aanpak van FM verder uitdragen
• Professionele ontwikkeling van de facility managers bevorderen
FM mensen brengen de PPP bij elkaar en ze managen de veranderingen.
Drie typen facilitaire organisaties = organisaties ontwikkelen zich van loose naar elastic fit.
• Loose fit = kleine startende organisaties tot middelgrote tot grote organisaties die in
een stabiele omgeving opereren. Organisatie wordt niet centraal faciliterend
aangestuurd. Geschikt voor bedrijven die een extreme groei doormaken of bij grote
ondernemingen in een stabiele omgeving.
