Hi, this document has D1. It is written together with M1 to make the essay flow better. My teacher marked it - both M1 and D1 meet the criteria.

Unit 10 M1 D1 Health and Social Care

M1- Discuss how policies and procedures help children, young people and their families
whilst the child is being looked aferr

D1 - evaluate the regulaton of care provision for looked afer children and young peopler

In this assignment I will discuss policies and procedures which are there to help children and their
families for the tme the child is being looked aferr I will also evaluate the regulatons of these
legislatons and if they are efectver

United Natons Conventon on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC% 1989: this is the legislaton which
tends to speak for the rights and opportunites of the childrenr It states that it doesn’t mater what
religion, race, gender, abilites, status or language the child is, all children must be treated the same
which is with respect and in a not discriminatve wayr It is important to ensure that the children
rights are supported and they are not abused in any wayr It is important to keep every child from
harm because they are vulnerable but also they shouldn’t be treated in a negatve wayr The children
must be kept safe from violence and negatve behaviourr

I think that this ‘United Natons Conventon on the Rights of the child (UNCRC) 1989’ is very efectve
because it protects every child in the worldr It doesn’t mater what natonality or background the
child is from, they stll must be considered with respect but also they must be treated right
(protected from violence and harm)r It helps children who are taken care of away from their families
because it provides an essental right for the children when they are looked afer by the carerr

Every Child Maters (ECM% 2003r this is the policy which simply states that if you work with children
you must respect them in every way possibler It is important to not discriminate them or be racist it
any wayr This legislaton stresses out the importance of the support the all children must obtain
when they are looked afer by the carersr It doesn’t mater what background they are from or what
skin colour they have, every child should receive the maximum support from the carers and people
the child works withr

I think that this legislatonnpolicy is very efectve because it regulates the law of protectng the
children from harm behaviour which might be stmulated by the carers who are looking afer the
childrenr This legislaton allows parents of the children to be safe about their children and the way
the carers treat their childrenr This policy provides a reassurance that the children in the foster care
and the residental childcare centres are treated rightr

The Children Act 1989r this act provides the children who need foster care or residental childcare
services in the authorised orderr This means that those who need a foster home need to be
preauthorised and send to a foster family as soon as possible to stabilise things quickly enoughr This
suggests that those children who have been allocated with a foster family could be living happy with
their new family but also they are able to contnue with their educatonr

I think that this legislaton is efectve because it provides those who need a foster home quick they
are going to succeed in getng a homer This ensures that children could stll contnue their pathway
of getng a decent educaton which provides them with a chance to build up their futurer
