Wat: afasie na letsel ipsilateraal (aan dezelfde kant) van de dominante hand
- Dogma van Broca: intrinsieke band tussen handvoorkeur en cerebrale taaldominate
→ Gekruiste afasie: uitzondering op dogma van Broca
Wat: letsel ipsilateraal van de dominante hand (= bij rechtshandigene letsel rechts en
toch afasie → betekent dat dominante taalhemisfeer rechts is terwijl dit normaal
gesproken links is)
Eerst dacht men dat gekruiste afasie niet voorkwam bij rechtshandigen enkel bij:
Mensen met vroeg opgelopen schade in de linkerhemisfeer (waardoor rechter
hemisfeer het had overgenomen van linkerhemisfeer en rechts dus dominant was)
Mensen die verplicht werden om met rechterhand te schrijven (maar die eigenlijk
linkerhand als voorkeurshand hebben)
Gekruiste afasie bij linkshandigen de regel en niet de uitzondering
70% vd linkshandigen heef een taaldomante linker hemisfeer
15% vd linkshandigen heef een taaldominante rechter hemisfeer
15% vd linkshandigen heef een bilaterale taalrepresentate
Criteria: rechtshandig + afasie + vasculaire rechter hemisfeerletsel
Geen antecedenten van epilepsie
Geen vroeg opgelopen hersenschade
Geen familiale antecedenten van linkshandigheid

geschreven taal)
