Divisional Divisions can be found within the Police Service. These are
diferent types of groups that do diferent operaions within the
police service such as a police ani-drug division for example.
These diferent divisions are vital to helping protect the public.
For example, certain specialist areas will be used in diferent
situaions. This makes sure that vulnerable members of the public
get the correct help of the correct people within the police
service instead of someone who doesn’t know much in that
certain area. Another example would be when police ofcers are
out on patrol. Having diferent divisions monitors who is where
and who they are with.
Departmental This is to do with certain groups that work within the public
services. For example, a Police Air Support unit would be one of
the departments within the Police Service. The police would use
this department when trying to gain an easier way in catching
cars or people on a pursuit which would help the ofcers on the
ground catch them. The ofcers in the helicopters will radio the
informaion to the ofcers on the ground in the way to catch the
criminals faster.
Secional These are sub divisions within the police service. For example, in
the West Mercia police, the mounted secion help operate on the
front line with the general public. They are efecive when it
comes to controlling crowds such as football grounds on match
days. Daily operaions are also carried out such as stop and
searches, arrests and also gathering intelligence on other current
invesigaions. They also help support crime prevenion. Meaning
that they go into areas, reassuring the public and showing them
