In groep 1 en 2 worden verschillende rekenactiviteiten al toegepast
binnen thema's zoals 'herfst', 'Sinterklaas', of 'piraten', die het tellen en
begrip van getallen bevorderen. Echter, het is lastig om te bepalen of
de ontwikkeling van de kinderen volgens verwachting verloopt en of ze
goed voorbereid zijn voor het klassikale rekenonderwijs in groep 3.
Traditionele toetsmethoden, zoals werkbladen of losse vragen, passen
niet goed bij kleuters en bieden soms onvoldoende informatie, omdat
ze geïsoleerde kennis testen en inzicht vaak buiten beschouwing laten.
Daarom is een map met peilingactiviteiten ontwikkeld, bestaande uit
spelletjes waarmee de ontwikkeling van getalbegrip bij kleuters in
groep 1 en 2 kan worden gepeild en gestimuleerd. Deze speelse
activiteiten helpen niet alleen bij het ontdekken van wat kleuters
weten en kunnen, maar ook bij het begrijpen van hun denkprocessen
en redeneringen.
