Including: tattooing, body piercing, electrolysis, dermal implanting or scarification High level disinfectant - Chemical agent registered with the EPA which has demonstrated tuberculocidal activity Instruments - Equipment used during tattooing services, including but not limited to needles and tubes Tattoo license - Good for one year, becomes inactive on last day of the month one year from the date of issuance. Sharps container - Puncture resistant, leak proof container that can be closed for handling, storage, transportation, and disposal. Must be labeled with the Biohazard symbol. How long can you tattoo with a temporary license? - No more than 30 consecutive days. How often can you renew a temporary license? - Up to two times in a 12 month period from date of initial application. Can be done consecutively. How long in advance do you need to submit a request to renew a license before tattooing services are provided? - 20 days unless otherwise approved by office. How much notice is required before services are performed when changing work location? - At least 24 hours. When do you need to renew your tattoo license? - PRIOR to license entering inactive status. How long can your license be inactive for? - Up to 3 years How do you renew your license if it has expired? - You don't. You reapply and meet initial requirements for licensure. How many hours of continuing education do you need per year? - 10 hours What kind of education do you need to be considered "continuing education" - 5 hours by participation or attendance at a course provided by approved facilities, 5 hours self study What topics can you study for continuing education? - Laws and rules regulating licensed artists, safety and sterilization, color theory, design, art and placement, client services, and business operations What is not eligible for continuing education credits? - CPR training, First Aid, and Blood borne pathogens because these are conditions of the license.
