Being a professional teacher Activity 1: Roles and responsibilities of a teacher
Role/Responsibility 1: Assessor
Explanation: My mentor teacher kept a record of each student's progress, abilities and
achievements throughout the year. She did it based on the students' academic and social life. My
mentor teacher identified problem areas to the student in class separate from the other children,
for the child not to feel embarrassed, my mentor also communicated with the students' parents
about problem areas the child has and what the parents need to focus more on at home. The
mentor suggested to the parents that the child needs extra help from a professional. There are
also extra classes for children who struggle more in certain areas.
Role/Responsibility 2: Facilitator of Learning
Explanation: My mentor teacher recognized that a few of her learners have different learning
approaches and that she must adjust to the different teaching methods for all her students to learn
and understand the topic she is busy with. She never just stayed with only one teaching method,
she gave each student the opportunity to learn to the best of their abilities. My mentor knew
when to assign group and individual teaching, there were students who struggled giving their full
attention and concentrated on group learning or struggled with a certain topic in group learning.

success of many activities is dependent on good teamwork and the understudies knowing exactly
what they are supposed to accomplish right away. In this position, giving instructions is equally
as important as building up activities. The coordinator can also act as a demonstration; this
position allows an educator to get more involved and engaged with pupils. The instructor also
