-Nominaal: laagste level van meten, discrete categorieën, geen natuurlijke orde,
categoriaal (meer dan 2 categorieën) of dichotoom (2 categorieën), verschillende
getallen aangeven om personen van elkaar te onderscheiden, waarden tussen
getallen zijn gelijk, maar er zit geen ordening in de getallen, getallen hebben geen
betekenis maar zijn alleen maar een label → categorieën benoemen (bijvoorbeeld
rugnummers van een voetbalelftal)
-Ordinaal: categoriaal, natuurlijke orde, nummers gegeven aan categorieën om
een ranking te maken, geen absoluut nulpunt, onbekend hoeveel afstand er zit
tussen elke categorie (interval tussen elk getal niet noodzakelijk gelijk), waarden
tussen getallen zit geen verschil in, geen betekenis in getallen, maar er zit wel een
ordening in de getallen (bijvoorbeeld sociaal economische status)
-Interval: geordend, maar het interval tussen elke data is bekend en gelijk, nulpunt is
niet absoluut, je kunt onder de nul gaan (bijvoorbeeld temperatuur in graden)
-Ratio: absoluut nulpunt, verschil tussen de getallen hebben een betekenis. Verschil
tussen de getallen is gelijk en deze kun je vergelijken. Waarden zijn continue: elk
reëel getal dat mogelijk is. (bijvoorbeeld leeftijd, lichaamsgewicht)
