Zonlicht = energiebron voor fotosynthese en signaal dat ontwikkelingsprocessen reguleert.
Zowel visueel als UV gedeelde beschadiging van membranen, eiwitten en DNA.
Fotoreceptoren = receptor moleculen die planten gebruiken om zonlicht te detecteren reageren op signaal
door signaal reacties te initiëren: secundaire messengers en fosforylatie cascades.
Lichtafhankelijke processen: fotoblastie (zaden hebben licht nodig om te kiemen), fotomorfogenese (hoe planten
zich ontwikkelen in het licht: stengelgroei en bladexpansie), fototropisme (planten bewegen naar het licht toe),
fotonastie (planten waarbij de blaadjes open vouwen in het licht) en nyctinastie (bladeren plooien ‘s nacht toe),
fotoperiodisme (planten die bloeien in lange/korte dagen).
Plant fotoreceptoren
= eiwit (apoproteïne) + chromofoor (lichtgevoelig) holoproteïne
gevoelig voor kwantiteit (#fotonen), kwaliteit (golflengte), intensiteit en tijdsduur van licht.
- Fytochromen = fotoreceptoren die rood en verrood licht absorberen.
- Blauw licht en UV-A = chryptochromen ( fotomorfogenese), fototropines (fototropisme, chloroplast
verplaatsingen en stomata opening) en ZEITLUPE (daglengte perceptie en circadiaanse ritmes).

Men ging na of roodlicht en verroodlicht invloed hebben op elkaar door ze na elkaar te belichten: verrood licht
gaat positieve effecten van rood licht tenietdoen. De laatste belichting telt!
