3. Outsourcing and Definition: Obtaining resources from outside the US.

Significance: Explains why call center representatives are
mainly from India and the Philippines, as colonization has
led them to speaking English.
4. Immigrant In- Definition: Immigrants are given jobs in US because they

5. International Labor was originally segregated by race. Example: many
Racial & Gender telephone operators were Japanese women.

6. "Runway" Sweat- Definition: Labor laws did not apply to fashion or clothing

much less than minimum wage.
Significance: To find even cheaper labor, companies would
move sweatshops to outside the US, where working con-
ditions are significantly worse (no labor laws whatsoever).
