Associative property - ANSWER (2*5)*3=2*(5*3) same regardless of grouping

Distributive property - ANSWER 2*(3+4)= (2*3)+(2*4)=14 multiplying a sum by a number is the same as
multiplying each addend by the number and then adding the products.
Zero Property - ANSWER 3+0=3 and 3*0=0 sum of a number and 0 is the number. Multiplication, the
product of a number and 0 is 0.
integers - ANSWER set of positive and negative numbers including zero. integers do not include fractions,
decimals, or mixed numbers (7-3/4)
Prime number - ANSWER whole number greater than 1 that has only two factors, itself and 1. can be
divided only even by 1 and its self.
composite number - ANSWER a whole number greater than 1 that has more than 2 different factors. any
number not prime.
Rational numbers - ANSWER set of whole numbers, integers, decimals, and fractions. Rationals numbers
can be expressed as either a negative or positive value. any terminating decimal that can be expressed as
a fraction is a rational number. ex/ 45.6 can be written as 456/10
irrational numbers - ANSWER numbers that are not rational. ex/ square root of 2 they cannot be written
as fractions or decimals because the number of decimal places is infinite and a recurring pattern does
not exist with the number.

measuring, comparing, counting, or determining quantities.
Factors - ANSWER numbers multiplied together to obtain a product 2*3=6 2 and 3 are factors
common factor - ANSWER number that divides exactly into two or more other numbers. ex/ the factors
of 12 are 1,2,3,4,6, and 12. factors of 15 are 1,3,5, and 15 so common factors are 1 and 3.
prime factor - ANSWER ex/ prime factors of 12 are 2 and 3. ex/prime factor of 15 are 3 and 5
numerator - ANSWER top number of fraction
denominator - ANSWER bottom number of fraction
undefined fraction - ANSWER zero in the denominator (3/0)
binary or base two system - ANSWER only used numbers 0 and 1
PEMDAS - ANSWER order of operation- Parentheses, exponents, multiplication,division, addition,

cardinal numbers - ANSWER numbers used for counting
ordinal numbers - ANSWER show position 1st, 2nd,...
least common denominator (LCD) - ANSWER ex/ lowest common denominator for 2/3 and 4/9 is 9 so the
fraction can be expressed as 6/9 and 4/9 for easier comparison.
greatest common factor (GCF) - ANSWER factors of 15 are 1,3,5, and 15 and factors of 35 are 1,5, 7, and
35. so the GCF is 5.
