Depressie
Ziekelijke sombere stemming, geremdheid in denken en handelen.
Personale depressie: sombere stemming ontstaan door verdrietige omstandigheden (bijv
zakken van examen, relatie uit), maar de duur en ernst staan niet in verhouding tot de ernst
van de aanleiding. Het probleem is dat de grens tussen normale rouw en een depressie soms
moeilijk vast te stellen is.
Vitale depressie: sombere stemming zonder echte aanleiding. De symptomen: angst
onredelijke zelfbeschuldiging, schuldgevoel, vermoeidheid en slapeloosheid. Medicijnen die
gebruikt worden zijn vaak antidepressiva. Bij vitale depressie kan de depressieve periode 4
tot 7 maanden duren.
Gevaar depressiviteit neiging tot zelfdoding .

Kleine therapeutische breedte (word daarom ook nog wel eens mee geprobeerd zelfmoord
te plegen)
Dosering langzaam opbouwen → aantal bijwerkingen blijft beperkt

Het heeft vervelende bijwerkingen dit kan worden verminderd of zelfs geheel voorkomen
door de volledige hoeveelheid voor de nacht in te nemen.

Antidepressiva werkt alleen bij depressie waarbij processen in het lichaam verstoord zijn
(vitale depressie).
Serotonine is bij de prikkeloverdracht betrokken
SSRI’s of SRI’s: (selectieve) serotonine heropnameremmers
TCA’s: tricyclische antidepressiva
Advies: de volledige hoeveelheid per dag in 1x voor de nacht innemen
Halfwaardetijd (t½) is lang, dus het is niet zinvol om het over de dag te verdelen
Bijwerkingen worden op deze manier minder of worden zelfs voorkomen
