Assignment 2

1. To secure the value of information assets, it is necessary to have a perspective on the

information management function of the entire company. According to (Kloss, 2013), this

requires explicit structures, policies, processes, technologies, and controls that bring together the

areas of enterprise information management. Three processes one expects to see in an

organization that practices an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) culture that shows

information quality and integrity include;

• Benchmarks and definition-based data capture

• Knowledge of data source and lineage

• Procedures for end-to-end observation and effect of alterations and improvements

• Systematic data value supervising centered on calculated risks

• Correction of errors and and improvement practices (Wyatt, 2001).

2. Business intelligence and clinical analytics are modern concepts that express keys intended to

pull valuable information from data to improve medical and executive functioning. A vital

component to information management that the data must have integrity, accuracy, easily

accessible and comprehensible to consumers. (Kloss, 2013). In order to improve patient care,

data must be collected and analyzed to seek trends and data that will guide the provider in

making clinical decisions. The conversion of data into information that is usable and can be

delivered back to end-users is necessary to apply analytics in health care. By providing the initial

electronic data, the implementation of electronic health records and other electronic data systems

makes the employment of diagnostic tools more manageable.

, According to Science direct, "business intelligence is the procedures and technical infrastructure

that collects, stores and interprets the data generated by a company's actions" (Patriarca, Di

Gravio, and Cioponea, 2022). Business intelligence includes data mining, process analysis,

descriptive analytics, and performance benchmarking. Hence, clinical analysis and business

intelligence combine all the data and display health data in easy-to-understand reports, metrics,

and trends that help providers make informed decisions during patient care.

3. Health data stewardship ensures the informed and proper use of data obtained from

individuals' personal health information, governed by principles and practices. (Kannan and Carr,

2009). While information governance is one of the three foundational principles that govern

contemporary information management practices. (Wyatt, 2001). The concept of health data

stewardship and information governance provides efficient, compatible, and proper stewardship

of information resources through leadership, organizational processes, resources, and controls to

permit excellent business and medical practice. Health data stewardship ensures that all

stakeholders in the healthcare organization and represented properly and without compromising

privacy.

4. There are five stages of the information life cycle. They include;

i. Creating, capturing, or receiving a record. This phase entails generating, editing, and

reviewing work in progress and capturing example X-rays or magnetic resonance

imaging (MRI) or receiving content such as display of patient information in

telemedicine and virtual health data.

ii. Keeping track of maintenance and usage. Records must be kept to be accessible and

retrievable after they are made. This phase includes searching, indexing, and recovering,

managing, transmitting, and delivering functions, rules, and procedures.
