16.1 - OVERERVING VAN EIGENSCHAPPEN
De tak van wetenschap die de overerving van eigenschappen onderzoekt is de
genetica.
16.1.1 - KARYOGRAM
Elke set van 23 chromosomen in de haploïde geslachtscel bevat de totale
erfelijke code van een mens en wordt het humane genoom genoemd.

, Een gen is een deel van het DNA-molecuul dat de
informatie voor een eigenschap bevat. De plaats
waar het gen in het chromosoom is te vinden heet
de locus.
In een karyogram zijn de homologe
chromosomenparen naar vorm en grootte
gerangschikt. De paren hebben een vaste
nummering. Hierbij worden chromosomen
uitdelende cel geïsoleerd en gekleurd.
De chromosomen van het 23e paar zijn de
geslachts- hormonen, vrouwen hebben twee X-
chromosomen en makken hebben een X- en Y-
chromosoom.
16.1.2 - ALLELEN
Als genen in verschillende variaties voorkomen, spreek is van allelen.
Homozygoot: wanneer iemand twee dezelfde allelen heeft voor een
eigenschap.
Heterozygoot: wanneer iemand twee verschillende allelen heeft voor een
eigenschap.
Een overheersend allel heet dominant en het onderdrukte allel noem je
recessief. Een recessief allel komt alleen tot expressie wanneer het niet door
een dominant allel overheerst wordt.
fenotype = genotype + omgevingsfactoren
Fenotype: verschijningsvorm van het individu, dat wil zeggen het geheel
van waarneembare eigenschappen.
Genotype: geheel van erfelijk eigenschappen op de chromosomen.
