ADVERSE EFFECTS: NURSING INTERVENTIONS:
- arrhythmias - PO administraEon of calcium carbonate 60-90
- consEpaEon minutes aVer meals and at bedEme.
- Make sure chewable tablets are well chewed
before swallowing.
- Monitor serum calcium before and periodically
during therapy for treatment of hypocalcemia.
- When used as an antacid, assess for heartburn,
indigesEon, and abdominal pain. Auscultate
bowel sounds.
