needs of their patients and how all of their patients comes first since patients are one of
their most important stakeholders. For example, on the second page of Mayo Clinic's
code of ethics, they list their values, and the needs of their patients are listed as their
number one primary value. Another example of how Mayo Clinic practices CSR is in the
letter from their President and Chief Executive Officer, he states how all the choices
made in the company every must be honest, ethical, and how they are accountable for
their own decisions. They clearly say how they want to manage their business ethically
and are fully aware of how it can impact society.
Legal Mandates
Mayo Clinic's code of ethics does a splendid job with outlining laws their
employees must abide by and what the consequences are if rules are broken. For
example, in their code of ethics, it is clearly stated why the employees must Integrity
and Compliance training program. The code of ethics has sections like "Confidential
Information and Trade Secrets, Books and Records, Patient Health Information," and
within each section, there are different laws that are listed, why they are significant, and
how each employee must abide by the law. For example, Mayo Clinic included the Anti-

states that if employees knowingly violate the company's code of conduct, they are
subject to corrective action, which can include termination of employment. It is indicated
that Mayo Clinic can face criminal prosecution, civil liability, and fines if laws are
violated.
Safeguards
All businesses must have safeguards in place to help with remaining in
compliance with all rules and laws. For example, Mayo Clinic established an Integrity
and Compliance training program. All employees must complete this training if they
want to work for the company. Another safeguard the company created was creating a
department called The Integrity and Compliance Office, where it is located at all
locations of the company. These safeguards are put in place to help the company and
