Section A

Nora’s Bagel Bin Database Blueprints

1(a): Assign each attribute from the 1NF table into the correct 2NF table.

- See below:

1(b): Describe the relationship between the two pairs of 2NF tables:

- The relationship that exists between the Bagel Order table and Bagel Order Line Item is 1:M (one to many). It is reasonable to
say that one bagel order could have multiple lines of data. Having Bagel Order ID as the PK(Primary Key) would cause each
order to be unique, due to no two Bagel Order IDs being the same.

- The relationship that exists between the Bagel Order Line Item table and the Bagel table is M:1(many to one), because you can
have multiple different line items, but each Bagel ID only corresponds with one unique Bagel Name.

1(c): Explain how you assigned attributes to the 2NF tables and determined the cardinality of the relationships between your 2NF tables:

- The assignment of the attributes was done this way so that if a customer places an order, table item uniqueness is maintained,
but all of the items would be combined into one order as a result of the relationships between the three tables.

2(a): Assign each attribute from your 2NF "Bagel Order" table into one of the new 3NF tables. Copy all other information from your 2NF
diagram into the 3NF diagram.

- See below:

2(b): Provide each 3NF table with a name that reflects its contents.

- See above highlighted

2(c): Create a new field that will be used as a key linking the two 3NF tables you named in part A2b. Ensure that your primary key (PK) and
foreign key (FK) fields are in the correct locations in the 3NF diagram.

- Bagel Customer ID is the newly created key between the two tables.

2(d) Describe the relationships between the 3NF tables by indicating their cardinality in each of the dotted cells.

- The Bagel Order Info table and the Customer Order Info table have a M:1(many to one) relationship. At the restaurant the
customer can place multiple orders i.e., one person picking up separate food orders for multiple people.

2(e) Explain how you assigned attributes to the 3NF tables and determined the cardinality of the relationships between your 3NF tables.

- The different orders that the customer places will be attached to the Bagel Customer ID attribute which is PK in the Customer
Order Info table and the FK in the Bagel Order Info table. This is how the orders will be matched to the customer who placed
them.
