Self-Regulation

Self-regulation is a very wide term. It has a lot of components. Every author has his unique

definition of self-regulation. I took my time and looked at various definitions and meanings of

the term self-regulation. After doing my research, I think that self-regulation can have different

meanings for different people. According to me, self-regulation is having a close look at your

perception, thought process and the actions you take. You compare your actions with your results

and figure out what went wrong, and you work on it to make yourself better.

System 1 and system 2

System 1 and system 2 are the basics of behavioral science. They give a general idea of how we

think. System 1 is also known as fast learning. It is based on intuition and information through

which we perceive the world around us. An example of system 1 thinking would be me going to

my work. I don't need abstract thinking to go to my work as I have learned this behavior. All the

memories, information and perception are working as a team, and I don't have to put much effort

into it. System 2 thinking is also known as slow thinking. Here we have to pay attention and

think before taking any action. It requires critical reasoning and abstract thinking. An example of

system 2 thinking would be giving IV medication to the patient. For this, I need to calculate the

dose of the drug according to the patient’s weight. Then I have to identify any possible drug
