- Joshua Wong founded activist group scholarism and was the main voice of the
movement. He was arrested many times.
-protest took place outside government headquarters. They were non-violent and
80000-100000 protesters were on the streets at a given time .
- Joshua was arrested in 2017 with two friends and charged for breaking into
government grounds . He was nominated for a nobel peace prize . He was released in
2018.
- The White House issued a statement in support of the protesters.The UN urged Hong
Kong to uphold freedoms of expression and assembly and amnesty said the police had
failed in their duty .
