0 1 Walking in Aleje Ujazdowskie
Read this adapted extract from the novel Dzieci ulicy by Janusz Korczak. Write T
if the statement is true.
F if the statement is false.
NT if the statement is not in the text.
W pogodny dzień Alejami Ujazdowskimi w Warszawie spacerowały
tłumy ludzi. Mieszkańcy spieszyli się, by nacieszyć się ostatnim
wrześniowym słońcem. Za niedługo trzeba się będzie ukryć w ciemnych
domach i czekać całe pół roku, aż warszawskie drzewa puszczą
pierwsze wiosenne liście.
Środkiem ulicy jechały dorożki*, w których siedziały pięknie
ubrane panie w sukniach udekorowanych drogimi piórami.
Modni panowie w wysokich kapeluszach pozdrawiali znajomych.
Wśród spacerowiczów było wiele głodnych dzieci, sprzedających
ostatnie letnie kwiaty. Ich twarze były zmęczone i smutne.
Z daleka, uważnym okiem obserwował je mężczyzna. Szedł sam, w
mundurze i w czapce żołnierskiej. Jego zimny wzrok i poważna mina
wzbudzały w dzieciach strach.
