A. Current IT Environment Analysis

(The rows in the table will expand as you type.)

Current IT Environment
Components (including examples of service and delivery, scalability, flexibility,
interoperability, resilience, and security)
Current SaaS operation is hybrid via Colo data center and via a
webservice.

The sales and marketing departments have taken it upon themselves to
select Salesforce (salesforce.com) for both sales automation and
customer resource management (CRM). Both departments have separate
instances of Salesforce.com with a series of custom HTML5 and
Force.com applications already written for their instances. At this time,
there is no connection between Salesforce.com and the company’s
business services and ERP system InTrack.
SaaS Operation
scalability- Currently the operation isn’t scaled appropriately, having a
cloud based solution only will allow them to grow and not have to worry
about the costs associated with having their services hosted in multiple
locations.
flexibility- Having their current SaaS operation in a hybrid scenario, it
allows them to access the data remotely or onsite depending on their
location.
interoperability- There is no connection between their Salesforce
instance and the company’s business services and ERP system

The original hardware platform was built on non-volatile memory express
(NVMe) and standardizing non-volatile memory, such as solid-state drives
(SSDs), which are connected to the computer using a disk drive interface,
such as Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA).

service and delivery- Provides information when needed so long that
there are no technological issues.
scalability- SSDs are physical devices, if copies or backups need to be
Hardware
made, they must be done with the SSDs still in tact. There is a risk if a
SSD is lost or wiped that current data is not backed up elsewhere. Also if
one location needs information from another it is difficult to quickly and
efficiently transfer the information.
flexibility- limited data transfer speeds
resilience- Not resilient, if device fails information is lost.
security- Secure seeing as the devices themselves cannot be remotely
accessed.
Operating Systems (OS) The operating systems for TreasureChest are not standardized and
contain several versions depending on the needs of each department,
including Apple Mac OS X 10.4, Ubuntu Linux 7. 04, Microsoft Windows
2000 running in Parallels Desktop at near-native speed, and Microsoft
Windows XP.

scalability- Not standardized with multiple versions in multiple
departments this limits scalability as it is not efficient or effective to have
multiple OS’s across the enterprise.
flexibility- Not very flexible as each department has their own OS version
and if modifications or enterprise changes are to take place, these will
