, Abstract: This paper examines the role of a community outreach specialist in addressing the

mental health needs of single or new mothers of color struggling with postpartum depression

(PPD) and postpartum anxiety (PPA). As research shows, women of color often face higher rates

of PPD and PPA due to a combination of socioeconomic disparities, cultural stigmas around

mental health, and limited access to healthcare resources. Drawing from both existing research

and my personal experience navigating similar challenges, I explore the importance of culturally

sensitive outreach programs designed to offer comprehensive mental health support. My own

journey toward healing after childbirth exposed me to the gaps in care available for women of

color, particularly those from underserved communities. This has fueled my passion for

becoming a community outreach specialist, where I can combine professional skills with my

lived experience to offer targeted interventions. Through data analysis, interviews, and personal

reflection, this research underscores why community-based mental health outreach is not only

necessary but deeply impactful for improving maternal well-being in marginalized groups.
