Eighteen To Thirty

Blood is the tie of humanity, the will of family, the source of life, and the strength of

religion. The relationships are bound together at birth, where likeness is seen. A mother and

daughter, the bond that was created at birth, with the urge to protect, love, and nurture. Family is

the strongest tie that can’t be broken. Where respect and discipline are systems for a household to

build & structuralize. The album thirty by Adele alludes to the stages of a broken relationship &

mental abyss she fought through. How one can love to the end of time, give their all to someone

deemed fit, but boil down to nothing due to strangers being set in stone?

STRANGERS BY NATURE

The sublime of expectation. The angelic atmosphere to welcome something of one’s own.

The stress over procedure, longevity, protection, finances, and the illusion of being the perfect

mother all circumvent nothing at the site of the child. The sensation of love and mother instincts

shield all worries. In the bridge, Adele states: “I hope that someday I’ll learn to nurture what I’ve

done.”(02:01). On The anniversary of life, the bond is set, the blood following leaving no site of

negativity. A child’s first time to touch & attach caving no sense of rebuttal to show their

emotions. It’s loving and bound, but what does it mean if two people are set to be impassable? A

grave set at first greet. Every anniversary leads to an apology or guilt for an event that wasn’t in

one’s control—unavailability of connection to melancholy.

MY LITTLE LOVE

In the first experience of life for a mother, it’s difficult to uphold composure with a lost

child. With moments of failure and stress. The dependence on life due to struggling motherhood.

Both yearn to learn, but the gap in comprehension leaves the mother to withdraw into turmoil.

It’s a battle of guilt and blame instead of communication. In the 2nd verse,“ I’m so far gone, and

you’re the only one who can save me.” (01:13). One’s left unrecognizable and the other

confused. Forwarding, the child takes the mother's qualities with neglect or misunderstanding of

affection. The detachment and discipline hit the path, eluding the introduction of the separation.

A load of confusion for the child and the weight the mother carries to struggling to love

something she created. The overcompensation the child is exposed to, wanting to help but not

receiving the love back, losing the infatuation aspect.

CRY YOUR HEART OUT

The reconciliation of life before the weight of motherhood leaps to the need for space and

the realization of one’s emotions. The mother is lost in her path, depending on her child,

allowing neither to feel anything anymore. Detachment from both parts was unleashed. In this

2nd verse,“ I would rather stay home, on my own, and drink it all away.” (01:53). The child takes

on qualities the mother didn’t give back while the mother is too exhausted. The incompetence to

see the storm was created by the adult figure who sits in surges. When the composure comes and

sets out from misery meeting company, a taste of the past mellows. The craving for no

responsibility or liability made haste issuing the child feel burdensome and the mother
