- Gomphosis: cone shaped peg fits into a socket. e.g. roots of teeth and sockets.
- Interosseous membranes: substantial sheet of dense irregular tissue that binds neighbouring
long bones and permits slight movement. e.g. between the radius and luna, and tibia and fibula.
Cartilaginous Joints - answer✔- Synchondrosis: connecting material is hyaline cartilage. e.g.
epiphyseal plate. it is an immovable joint, and bone replaces it after elongating. e.g. between first
rib and sternum, which also ossifies.
- Symphysis: ends of articulating bones are covered in hyaline cartilage, but a broad flat disc of
fibrocartilage connects the bones. All of these joints occur in the middle of the body: e.g. pubic
between anterior surfaces of the hip bones. It is a slightly movable joint.

- Articular cartilage: layer of hyaline cartilage covering the bones at a synovial joint. reduces
